"The world doesn’t know the real Robin Lehner yet."

Here is the original article (in French) where Lehner is quoted as saying: "The world doesn’t know the real Robin Lehner yet."

I am equal parts scared and excited of what this kid could become...

"...the fans here are really dumb."

Well, I suppose he's lucky this one happened in Binghamton and not in Ottawa, or anywhere in Canada.  Here's the full quote from a February article by In Goal Magazine:
“It was nice (to win) because the fans here are really dumb,” Lehner told the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin in of the megaphone-wielding fans in the post-game report. “They scream at you, and one guy has a thing that really sounds a lot in your ears. It’s good for them. They’re helping their team out, of course, and it’s hard to play here. … I got a lot more tired as the game went on; it’s hard to travel five hours before the game, come in and miss half of warmups and all that stuff, but you try to get over it.”
Of course, in his defense, he had been travelling between Ottawa and Binghamton a lot. He added, "every game is a new experience for me and of course I am not going to be calm in new experiences. I need to experience all this stuff and then I can get calm, and when I feel calm, I play better.”  I suppose that held true in the spring, because the Binghamton crowd didn't seem to concerned with his comments come playoff time.

Well, I can't technically confirm that what Lehner said was interesting, but I mean... it must have been, right?

It's too bad that this little kerfuffle led to a 5 on 3 for the Islanders, during which they scored the game winning goal.  Oh well, we shall file this one under "lesson learned."

"...he's not going to score on me, I hope."

In February, Lehner got a chance to start facing legendary New Jersey Devil netminder Martin Brodeur.  When asked how that made him feel, Lehner revealed that he was excited, but he had to focus on the players and not Brodeur because: "he's not going to score on me, I hope."  With a nod and a wink, he later added: "he's awesome with his stick, so you never know.  I'll be ready." See the pre-game interview here.

"Ain't no way that Brodeur fellah is slippin' one by me."

You know what?  I also hope Martin Brodeur doesn't score on him...

"...if Canada would have played us..."

After a blown icing call led to a goal against Lehner's Team Sweden at the 2011 World Juniors in Buffalo, the goalie had some things to say about the officiating:

My rough transcription from the video, for those who may not be able to watch.

"This friggin' tournament... f***in' refs doesn't hold standards.  They can't scream icing and then... then call it off, like, that's not ref standards in a tournament like this.  It wouldn't have happened if Canada would have played us, that's for sure."

I'm not sure how Team Canada got into this... but I'm lovin' it!!
